Sri Lanka motocross models are very popular with teens and with the grown up people. Motocross models are rode by young people in Sri Lanka mostly on holidays. They not only ride them off road but also ride them on the streets too as most of the bikes are legal to ride on the streets. Heavy sounds from these motorbikes are not allowed on the streets by local law. So producing heavy noise from your motorbikes on the roads can lead you to the courts. On the safety side, there are lot of shops that used to sale Track Suites and Motocross Bike accessories. In the mean time, it is against the Law to do stunt with these motocross bikes on the streets. Modifying their Exhaust sounds to be higher notes too will bring Law Suit against the offenders. Road races organized by Facebook groups are against the law and the involved people can be prosecuted. These Motorbikes with Great sound are popularly called as Motocross, Trail and Off-Road bikes. 90% of the youngsters, if they had started to ride the off road motorbikes then they will never want to ride on street bikes again. In Sri Lanka 125cc up to 400cc motocross bikes are available for sale while the 250 cc one is very popular here. In the early years people loved the two stroke engines as they used to provide powerful Torque and endurance than the 4 stroke machines. But now the four stroke engines too had captured the market with their power and less weight and for their winning streaks in the International level off road events.
Due to less sales of the Motocross Motorcycles sales. dealers are not interested bring them foe sale in Sri Lanka. Currently in Sri Lanka, Ather electric Scooter (Rs 720,000 + Vat) and Revolt electric motorcycles are available for sale. Check them from the dealer. In addition Bajaj offers CT100, Discover 125 and Pulsar N160 Motorcycles in Sri Lanka. TVS Motors offers 2 variants of Ntorq Scooters, iQube Electric Scooter and TVS Raider Motorcycle in Sri Lanka. Furthemmore Suzuki GN 125 look alike Motorcycle Senora Motorcycle is available for sale in Sri lanka at affordable price.
Sri Lanka is now having some vehicle, motorcycle and Scooter assembling plants. They are currently assembling cars along with scooters and street motorcycles for the general public. Their prices are doubled from the same India Two Wheeler prices. But it is not commercially profitable for them to assemble Motorcross models as their sales in Sri Lanka is very low. In Sri Lanka, the vehicle import ban is remocved but there is still Motorcycle and Scooters are so far not included in it. Already 4 Brand New Motorcycles are available for sale at higher price. These are assembled in Sri lanka while two variants of TVS Ntoq scooters too are available for sale. So far there is no information on Brand New Motocross or Trail Motorbike availability here.
In this year 2025, Sri Lanka assembled street motorcycles and Scooters are available for sale as brand new ones. So far there is no announcement of direct import of Indian and Japanese motorcycles and Scooters.

In this year 2025, youngsters are looking eagerly to buy their Trail Bikes in Sri Lanka. In addition the Government has placed new VAT on products and services. Even the motorcycle Engine oil prices too had been doubled from the previous year price with added VAT. Some Government officials are saying that the Motorbikes can be imported by the year 2025, after the public transport vehicle imports. Already Bajaja, TVS and Yamaha Motorcycles are availablfior sale as Brand New ones.
Popular Motocross - Trail - bikes in Sri Lanka are sold by Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, Husqvarna and Demak Companies. Anyhow Japanese trail bikes lead the Motocross bike sales in this country. Meanwhile some motocross bikes are being imported from India which is assembled in India under the Japanese and other country collaboration. These motorcycles are low in price than the Japanese models and their spare parts too are available through their dealer’s very easily. Now it is time for the worldwide Trail, Motocross and Adventure riders to check for the 2024 models that are being marketed by the leading motorcycle manufacturers. Most of them are priced marked with little higher prices due to their latest improvements on the Engines and on their bodies.

It is no surprise that the electric bikes have the power and pulse to compete in the motocross tracks. Namely KTM Freeride E-XC, Electric Motion Escape, Zero FX, Alta Redshift NX and Husqvarna EE5 are not ignorable ones. They used to be priced around US$ 8,000+ in America.
